I purchased this book for a class. It is a good overview of the history, terminology, and tools of healthcare quality. It is quite readable. It doesn’t go into much depth about most of the topics.

For most chapters it is okay to read- nothing exciting but nothing recent- I think 2007 or 2008 are the ‘latest’ information in the book- but then it is a second edition. But it covers ‘recent’ quality management decently enough.

The questions at the end of the chapter are okay to do but it is difficult often times to figure out what exactly they are asking for as the words don’t quite match up to the words used in the chapter so half of it is guesswork.

Interested in the field of healthcare quality and looking for a SINGLE reference that tells you EVERYTHING about the subject? Not willing to spend time and/or money on many books in the field to get the whole picture? This book is your choice. However, I do NOT recommend this book for beginners. Those who are just entering the field should consider something more concise and simple.
